project runway pinas

For many of you who are not watching Project Runways around the globe,

Project Runway is a reality tv show which focuses on fashion design. It uses progressive elimination to reduce the initial field of 12 or more fashion designers down to 3 or 4 before the final challenge. Each non-finale challenge (the scope of one episode) requires the designers to develop one or several pieces of new clothing to be presented at a runway show. The challenges range in creative diversity to test the designers’ ingenuity while maintaining their personal design aesthetic.source

For the Pinas version, I was very eager to see the creations of my fellow Pinoys. I have seen all the seasons from other countries and I was really impressed with the creativity and craftsmanship. I wanted to see if Pinoys can level with them.

I am disappointed with the challenges though. Gulay banana gee! Wala na bang mas creative pa dyan!? Kailangan lagi sponsor-based? Nesvita? Beverly hills 6750? Ponds? Cinderella? Naman!

Though I can say that from what I saw, there are really some talented designers on the show. I like Aries and Veejay and Jaz. Some of them are just plain mananahi, like Ivan and Bowhile some of them are just pure talk. Hello Eli?!

Oh Eli, where should I begin?

  1. Your designs? Blah. You only win challenges or get praised whenever the other contestants performed poorly.
  2. Your construction? Miserable.
  3. Your yabang? The size of the milky way. Who do you think you are dear? dyos? Why do you think you are the best? Why do you keep on backstabbing other people who did you no harm? Why do you keep hating other contestants that are much better than you? Insecure much?
  4. Your goal? Why did you join the show? You keep on saying that you joined for fun. Fun? Uou can get that in the park, on the beach, in a club, with friends and family, etc. But in a competition, you join to win and test your ability and skill. Why do you keep saying that the show is unfair and biased whenever you are at the bottom and then praise them when you are on top? Obvious much?
  5. You were a fashion professor? Di nga? What did you teach your students?

Kuya are you aware that you say bad words a lot on national television? Curse much?

Do you think there are people who would still want you as their designer, co-worker or employee after they’ve seen the show? Haaay kuya.

I’m glad the next episodes are Eli-free. Sigh of relief.
